River Bann Cruises FAQ

Our scheduled river trip experiences are 2 hours in duration. Please allow time to park and make your way to the meeting point. All timings are approximate, river and weather conditions can be changeable, and this can occasionally impact on times.

Public car parking is available at the Somerset Riverside Car Park on the Castleroe Road [Closest postcode is BT51 3RL]

Park here and walk the short distance to The Cutts lock and pontoon. Please arrive at least 10 mins prior to departure time.

Directions from car park to pontoon:

Once parked, make your way to the car park entrance and turn left onto the public footpath along the Castleroe Road.

Turn left at the Waterways Ireland (blue and white) sign and walk towards the river.

Continue around the Waterways Ireland office buildings (on your right) and make your way along the lock gate (on your left) to the pontoon where we will be ready to welcome you onboard.

The personal meet and greet and embarkation point for most of our scheduled river cruises is The Cutts Pontoon, it is situated beside the Waterways Ireland Offices. Please note there is no public car parking facilities at this location (see above).

No. Due to the nature of the boat it is not mandatory to wear a lifejacket or buoyancy aid while onboard MV Kingfisher.

We do carry lifejackets for all our passengers and have a full range of safety equipment onboard. We comply with the relevant Marine and Coastguard agency (MCA) regulations and adhere to the highest health and safety standards.

We welcome visitors with disabilities. However, due to the classic nature of our boat we have been limited in the adaptations and modifications we were able to make. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you wish to discuss your requirements prior to booking.

No, animals are not permitted onboard except for registered care/guide dogs which must be notified to the team in advance of your booking.

No. MV Kingfisher has retired from fishing duties.

The weather can be very changeable, and it tends to be cooler out on the water. For your personal comfort, please dress appropriately for the outdoors (bring a shower-proof coat and warm layers that can be added or removed as required) it is advisable to wear comfortable, sturdy footwear for walking along pontoons and getting in and out of the boat.

Depending on weather conditions the route of your river cruise may be adjusted to more sheltered areas.

If a trip must be cancelled due to unsafe weather or river conditions, we will notify you as soon as we can. We will reschedule or offer refunds in these situations.

Outside of our scheduled timetable the MV Kingfisher is available for private charter excursions, along with a range of catering options book. So, whether you are looking for a unique party experience, a floating celebration with a difference or want exclusive experience for your family or friends contact us and we’ll make your special occasion unforgettable.

No. Passengers are advised that they are not permitted to bring their own food or alcoholic beverages onboard scheduled river trips.

Tea and coffee and light refreshments are provided on our scheduled trips.
