About White River Charters

Memorable visitor experiences on the River Bann

About us

Established in 2020, White River Charters is jointly owned and crewed by colleagues and Causeway Coast residents Fiona Bryant and Ian McKnight. It all started with an ambitious lockdown project to restore and refurbish the 1947 classic harbour launch and create a unique tourism experience.

We are experienced, qualified, and passionate about celebrating the river and sharing the story of our boat and how we restored and refurbished a little piece of maritime history.

Ian McKnight

Ian has over 30 years boating experience as a professional skipper and is a Commercially Endorsed Yachtmaster. He is passionate about classic wooden boats, kayaking and sailing. Ian is also an advocate for the heritage, wildlife, conservation and leisure activities on River Bann and Causeway Coast.

Both Ian and Fiona are taking practical steps to reduce, remove and report sources of litter and pollution along the river and estuary to help keep it clean and free from pollution.

Fiona Bryant

Fiona has 20+ years in project management within the environment, heritage, outdoor recreation, and tourism sectors across NI. She has a love for the outdoors, local heritage, artisan food and environmental education.
She spends as much time as possible on the beach or by the river. Her youthful summers were spent water-skiing on the River Bann and sea swimming on the causeway coast.
